My name is Noah Jackson, I am a rising senior at Howard University graduating in the spring with a degree in Journalism and a minor in economics. This semester I am taking the Capstone course, which involves using all the skills I have learned in the past 4 years at the renowned Cathy Hughes School of Communication to produce well made packages and scripts that tell the story of DC from the eyes of a trained journalist. This semester, I have worked on stories that involve The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and Gun violence in DC, the government shutdown, and Immigrant owned businesses. I have also shown off all my skills in our final project where I was an anchor and a producer who was made sure each word I pronounced was perfectly. Along with this final broadcast at Howard University I have been lucky enough to cover all sorts of issues both here in the local DMV area, and stories with a national interest strictly here in DC. One of my favorite accomplishments here at Howard has been working on the 1619 Project College Edition Podcast where I was a host who narrated a podcast on tracing Howard fashion Culture back to its roots in West African tradition. In my free time I also started a small Tik Tok channel where I’ve broken down various historical moments in Black history. I love writing to educate people on topics they would not usually know about, and telling stories that are important to our everyday lives. My philosophy is journalists are the first historians, the first educators to the public, and the first people to stand up against corruption in all its forms. I hope you enjoy my work!!!
